Welcome to week 18 of 37. I am a little leery of saying it, but hear goes, "Welcome back to our first 5-day week!" We want to celebrate with those students in the 5th grade who participated in the 4th-8th grade National Geography Bee school competition. Noah Christiansen and Samuel Armour battled through, with Samuel making it to the last round against Ellie Choi. Congratulations to 6th Grader Ellie Choi for making it to the state competition.
Students turned in their Social Studies research work and now they look forward to designing their Ancient Egypt Trading Cards. During the school day, students will work on their cards and score the As-You-Read questions. At home, students should begin to choose and type up their 10 facts per topic (I will give them their facts back on Monday), ending up with 30 facts total. Each topic sheet of facts will be printed out, cut to size, and glued to the back of each fact card. In other words, each card will only include 10 facts (3 cards with 10 facts on the back each).
On January 30th, students will begin their presentations. During that time, students will prepare for their SS test by reviewing their study guides (and we will review the day before the test), as well.
Students can look forward to a new unit in Science on Monday: Unit G, Movement and Control. For those of you that love to study human anatomy, now's your chance to shine!
Let's make this week of 2017 a great one!
